Monday Morning Encouragement…
Don’t dismiss the smallness…
No matter where you are right now; if you’re on social media, not on social media, have your own business or are a stay at home momma, we all have a calling to encourage those around us… for good.
So let me encourage you (and my own heart) today.
Most of our lives are lived outside the influence of the “algorithm”, and that’s a really good thing. We need to keep life in perspective, right? But, if you’re like me and you’re trying to build a small business you’ve tried hard to figure out how to grow your audience and bring what you do to the world through these outlets. That’s not easy.
So how do we do that well?
Let’s look at this a little differently… let’s see this through the lens of Scripture this morning. Here are two sections of Scripture we’re looking at during our retreats this year:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23-25
The verses here in Hebrews 10 are the backbone of our retreats, so you’ve probably heard me talk about them before. My heart will always be to gather women together, to remind them how FAITHFUL and GOOD the Lord is, to encourage them to love one another, and to use the gifts and abilities God has given them for good.
When we’re doing these things, we can’t help but be a light in this dark world. Friends, we need to pray for boldness to put our light on a stand, so that it gives light to all those around us!
So here’s a reminder… Whether we have 10 followers or 10,000, we still hold influence. And, when we’re encouraging other women, sharing the truth, in love, pointing them back to Jesus, it’s the kind of influence that really matters. However small we may feel in the huge “pool” of social media, we’re right where we’re meant to be, and each one of us is an important part.
So let me say it again… Don’t dismiss the small things.
What if we started seeing our little squares on social media as a beautiful little boutique on a quiet street instead? We’re like a woman who has lovingly arranged every corner of her shop, every detail in her boutique that reflects her heart. She may never influence the whole world, but she brings beauty to those who step inside. And for those few, they remember it.
Here, in your little “boutique”, you can offer beauty, encouragement, and creativity. You can point others to the Lord and share the stories that make you… YOU.
~ That’s how true connection happens.
~ That’s how our little boutiques will find each other.
And that’s where the world will see our light, step inside, and it’ll feel like home.
I hope this encouraged you today. I love when you send me an email or comment on my posts, it does make these spaces become like a community of real women, connecting and sharing our lives together!
Have a BLESSED day everyone!
Hugs to all,
Laura
