Faith & Trust

So I shared last night on my personal Instagram about some lumps the Dr. found & how that relates to this important thing called TRUST in my life.  Its easy to “trust” in God when life is going pretty good, right? When we have a good “handle on things.”  But trusting in the unknown, or in the waiting? Not so easy.

That unknown & waiting we’re familiar with... we’ve moved states, bought land & are waiting, trusting in His perfect timing to direct this new path He has us on.   But I’m realizing there’s still so much more work He’s doing in my life in this area, especially when it comes to our health. (aka. life & death issues)

I think my favorite verse is coming back to bite me in the butt..😬

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

There’s that word again. TRUST. Its not really biting me in the butt... just reminding me so my thick head will finally “get it!”😂

I think the thing is... I’m learning the difference between FAITH & TRUST.  I have faith, I’m all in on the gospel message and Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior. ✔️

It’s the trust part I honestly think He’s teaching me now... growing my faith, teaching me what TRUST really looks like.

No, I don’t know the end from the beginning like He does. Yes, I lean on my own understanding All. The. Time.  And to realize we don’t have control over what happens in our lives is scary bc our nature is to CONTROL our circumstances as much as possible.

BUT... we/I need to remember this: our lives, they are certainly NOT out of the Lord’s control. He knows the hairs on our head and the number of our days. He is in TOTAL control & He is totally able!  He can handle things... much better than we can for sure.

So I think it boils down to the surrendering of OUR will (aka. our wants, desires, long life, live to see grand babies... you fill in the dots) to Him!

Relinquishing our will and trusting that God’s will, “His path” IS better.  When we lean on Him and not our own understanding that is where our faith and trust find rest in Him.

Lord, help us to find refuge and strength today as we focus on You.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1

”The faith that cannot be tested is the faith that cannot be trusted.”

Listen to this short little video from Greg Laurie on this idea.

If you’d like to read more, there’s a great devotional on Faith & Trust here.

I know this isn’t a fun “Christmas” tradition or gift idea like I had planned, but I hope in some way it blesses you today.

I’m headed to California tomorrow so have a GREAT weekend everyone!

Next week we will be sharing some of that fun Christmas stuff, AND we will be sharing the details of our Art & Faith Creative Retreat in Vermont next fall!

So we hope you will come join us next year and if you sign up BEFORE Christmas, we have a special “early bird” gift for you!

Hugs to all,
